York Regional Police Rely on ARS and Wescam

The York Regional Police Air Support Unit uses an Airbus EC-120 helicopter to collect critical Intel, which can be relayed to commanders on the ground for unsurpassed situational awareness, ultimately making for a much safer environment for the public as well as the Police.

The Air Support Unit’s helicopter is equipped with various mission critical equipment and the heart of the Surveillance System is the L-3 Wescam MX-10 feeding live full-motion video to the Churchill Navigation Augmented Reality Mapping System (ARS).

Churchill’s ARS identifies everything that Flight Officer is viewing on the video, providing unsurpassed information especially in rural areas and during low-light missions. The Officer can quickly search locations, receive directions to the location, pinpoint a location on the video, and direct ground troops to that scene.
